Dewey, the Cobb County Library System’s mascot, loves to read! He reads picture books, easy reader books, chapter books, nonfiction books, everything! Would you like to know what Dewey’s reading? Then you’re in luck! Every Monday you’ll find out what Dewey’s reading!

So, what’s Dewey reading today…?

Dewey’s listening to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling! Wait a minute…did I say ‘listening to’? I did! This is an audiobook! This audiobook’s call number is J Rowling. Audiobook call numbers work the same way that book call numbers do. You will see audiobook call numbers that are JP, JE, J, or J with a nonfiction number.

So what exactly is an audiobook? It is a book that is narrated (or read to you) by a narrator. Audiobooks can be on cassette tape, CD, Playaway (link to external site), or digital download. Audiobooks are a lot of fun! You can listen to them in the car or at home. You can even check out an audiobook with the physical book so you can follow along! Audiobooks are great for reluctant or struggling readers or readers who have a hard time with comprehension.
