Library cards look a bit different today, but the sentiment is still the same: “Your library card, before it expires…renew it”! Do you remember when Cobb County library cards were paper? Do you still have yours? Believe it or not, I have my grandfather-in-law’s New York Public Library card from the 1960s! Can anyone beat that? Comment below!

I had my little orange card Cobb County Library Card until a few years ago. It was hard to part with something that I worked so hard to get. Well, actually, all I had to do was attain the grand age of six, but that didn’t stop me from working the librarians for a card every two weeks for two years while my big brother checked out his books. Back in those days, there was a difference between a six year old reader and five year old reader, apparently. Perhaps at 6 I was presumed old enough to, hmm, make better reading choices? drive to the library? At the risk of sounding like an AT&T U-verse commercial (or my father), “kids these days don’t know how good they’ve got it.”
