A program on the first African Americans to join the U.S. Marine Corps will be presented Wednesday evening at West Cobb Regional Library from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The program is free and the public is invited.
The Marines of Montford Point: Commemorating America’s First Black Marines will be presented by James Newberry, Education Specialist at the Museum of History and Holocaust Education at Kennesaw State University. The program will cover how the men joined the Marine Corps and trained at Camp Montford Point in North Carolina, their service in World War II and contributions to the Civil Rights movement.
