As a public service, the Cobb County Public Library System (CCPLS) provides some tax forms starting after December 27. The CCPLS cannot guarantee availability of tax forms. Please contact your local library to determine what forms are available there. CCPLS libraries try to keep copies of commonly used forms. Copies of some publications may be made for 15¢ a page. Forms may also be obtained by visiting local state and federal tax agency offices or by downloading them from the IRS or Georgia Department of Revenue websites.

Free Tax Preparation Assistance
The AARP Tax-Aide program is the nation’s largest free tax preparation and assistance service.

Information about the AARP Tax-Aide program can be found on their website. This program is for low or moderate income tax payers. Assistance is free & confidential. Special attention is given to those aged 60 and older.

This program begins on February 1, 2013 and ends April 15, 2013. This information is subject to change without notice. Please contact the location you plan to attend to confirm the availability of this service. No appointment is required. Taxpayers should bring their 2011 return and 2012 tax documents and be prepared to show social security cards or other identification documents for themselves and all dependents. For direct deposit refunds, taxpayers must have their checkbook, a valid blank check or cancelled check to show the tax counselor.

Other Tax Preparation Assistance
Other assistance may be available through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, which can provide preparation help for Cobb County residents earning $48,000 a year or less.

This program is available at many sites throughout the metro Atlanta area; Cobb County locations include the following:
