Young Children
(Birth – Preschool)

Did you know, by 3 years of age, there is a 30 million word gap between children from the wealthiest and poorest families? Research shows that reading to infants and young children every day increases word recognition and vocabulary and helps shrink the ‘word gap’. Reading to children is also the best way to set them on the path to developing a lifelong love of learning.

The Summer Reading Program encourages participants of all ages to keep reading and learning through the summer. Our libraries are offering a wide variety of learning and entertainment opportunities this summer. Check out our calendar to see what amazing programs are happening near you!
