The first of four creative writing workshops at the Kennesaw Library for students preparing for the PIG TALES Writing Competition is scheduled for Tuesday, July 7, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The July 7 workshop is for grades K-3. A workshop for grades 4-8 is slated for Friday, July 10, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.. Registration required. Register at www.pigsandpeaches.com/pigtales.html.
Students in grades K-8 attending public, private or home school in Cobb County are invited to write a short story or essay, in 750 words or less, about their favorite trip to the beach or a dream island vacation. The PIG TALES Writing Competition winners will be presented prizes (including tickets to area attractions, T-shirts and goodie bags) at the City of Kennesaw’s Pigs & Peaches BBQ Festival on August 22.
Writing workshops at Kennesaw Library are also scheduled for Tuesday, July 21 (Grades K-3) and Friday, July 24 (Grades 4-8), 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. both dates.
The workshops will be led “Miss Mary” Felts, children’s book consultant and critic, and professional story time leader.
Kennesaw Parks & Recreation, Cobb Schools Foundation and the Cobb County Public Library System are partnering to offer the third annual PIG TALES writing competition, presented by SCANA Energy.
