Celebrate the Solar Eclipse with Cobb County public libraries!

Your Cobb libraries are a resource as you prepare for August 21st – either by experiencing the solar eclipse in Cobb County or traveling to the full eclipse path that will span from Oregon to South Carolina, including the northeastern corner of Georgia.

Solar Eclipse Viewing parties scheduled for Monday, August 21st include Switzer Library at 2 pm, South Cobb Regional Library at 2 pm, Sibley Library at 1 pm, and Vinings Library at 2:30 pm. Registration encouraged.

Upcoming events also include Solar Eclipse Storytime at Gritters Library on August 21, 11 am to noon. (770) 528-2524.

Vinings Library presented the Solar Eclipse Storytime  on July 31.

Update on Solar Eclipse Glasses: Please note – Cobb  County public libraries are out of eclipse viewing glasses, except for a very limited supply for locations hosting viewing party events – even those supplies are expected to run out. We urge our Cobb library patrons to plan ahead for August 21st by reviewing safety tips from credible sources and to shop for viewing glasses as soon as you can. On Tuesday, August 1st, the Switzer Library made available a limited number of free Solar Eclipse Glasses provided by the Solar Science Institute (SSI). No more are available for this round of providing the special free glasses at the Switzer Library as the supply was claimed in 25 minutes after the library doors opened at 10 am.
