For several months, author Sharyn McCrumb has shared with her audiences how she successfully found the image for the cover of her new book, The Unquiet Grave, to match her vision for the novel about the Greenbrier Ghost.

The ghostly image is by Atlanta-based visual artist and photographer Thomas Dodd. His art is based on his “painting with photography” technique.

Sharyn McCrumb will speak at the Switzer Library on Saturday, November 4 at 6 pm. about the novel and the historical and genealogical research conducted for creating the tale as one of three North Georgia Reads 2017 events by the Virginia-based writer.

Books by Sharyn McCrumb will be available at the Switzer Library event for purchase and signing courtesy of Book Exchange of Marietta.

Thomas Dodd said he is looking forward to attending the program at the Switzer Library:

Sharyn McCrumb herself actually selected my image “Enchanted Forest” to be the cover of her new book “The Unquiet Grave”. The original choice by the publishing company was of an image of an open grave but Sharyn had a vision for the cover that would more aptly evoke the ghostly story she tells in her novel.

I have been commissioned to do many book covers but this was the first time a high profile author made the choice herself and I am extremely honored to be part of Ms. McCrumb’s excellent work and visionary story-telling.

She has also been very gracious about including me in the credits of promotional materials as well as “shouting out” to me on social media. Sharyn has also been kind enough to repeatedly credit and acknowledge the model in the image (Aislin Freya Pax – a young model/actress from Asheville NC) in her promotional materials and internet posts as well.

She is truly a gracious, generous and extremely talented soul!

I look forward to meeting Ms. McCrumb on the 4th as well as talking to those of you who attend.
