A variety of events are scheduled at Cobb County libraries for the last Thursday before the start of the 2014-15 school year for Cobb public school students.

SummerTimePrograms scheduled for Thursday, July 31 include arts, movies, games, and Legos. The End of Summer Reading Celebration at Switzer Library is Saturday, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The first day of classes for Cobb County School District is Monday, August 4 and at Marietta City Schools on Wednesday, August 6. Classes also start soon at many area private schools and for several homeschooled students.

Thursday programs at Cobb libraries include:

Kemp’s Thursday Special Programs: Balloonapalooza at Kemp Memorial Library, 11 a.m. to noon. Jan Wills returns to Kemp for a program of balloon animals, games, face painting and bookmarks.

Tweens Only!: Movie and Pizza! at West Cobb Regional Library, 11:30 a.m. Ages 9-12.

Fizz, Boom, Question! at Switzer Library, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. This program will introduce the wide variety of information available at your public library. Kindergarten to 5th grade.

Optical Illusions: Family Art Program at South Cobb Regional Library, 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. Bring the family and create optical illusions.

Lego Warriors at Powder Springs Library, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. One last Lego Warriors before school starts. Please don’t bring your Legos, Miss Tara has tons! Open to ages 3 to 12.

Paper Bag Dramatics at East Cobb Library, 3:30 pm. to 4:15 p.m. Participants put on short plays using props in paper bags. Presented by Julienne Marks. For rising 3rd graders and up. Registration is required; please call (770) 509-2730.

Wii Gaming Event at Gritters Library, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Play Wii games with your friends. Ages 8 to 18.

Summer Movie Magic at South Cobb Regional Library, 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Enjoy a G-rated movie with your friends and family.

Teen Advisory Board Meeting and Volunteer Summer Wrap-Up at East Marietta Library, 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Share your fall program idea for teens with your librarian followed by a Summer Teen Volunteer wrap-up. Ages 14 to 17.
