On Saturday, March 3 at 2 pm at the Mountain View Regional Library, we'll hear from the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta for their Kids in the Kitchen presentation. The goal of this program is to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and help reverse the growth of childhood obesity and its associated health issues.

Friends of the Library Book Sale, March 23-25


Our next regular Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held March 23-25, 2012 at the Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta, in Exhibit Halls A & B.


  • Friday, March 23: 9 am - 5 pm
  • Saturday, March 24: 9 am - 5 pm
  • Sunday, March 25: 1 - 5 pm

Please note: Only cash and check will be accepted at the book sale.

Sale items include books both hardbound and paperback for children, young adults and adults; audio-visuals including books on tape and compact disc, videocassettes, compact discs, and records; magazines and some comic books.

Renowned actor to offer workshops for local teens

clapboardIn partnership with TheatreSouth Atlanta, the Cobb County Public Library System is offering Cobb teens an opportunity to develop their acting skills with a series of workshops as part of the Triple D Production series.

The classes are being taught by Herman LeVern Jones, award-winning producer, artistic director, and actor, who has worked with celebrities like Sidney Poitier, Samuel L. Jackson, James Earl Jones, August Wilson, and Oprah Winfrey. Mr. Jones founded TheatreSouth Atlanta in 2007 and is a professor at Life University.

Mr. Jones will teach two separate workshops: one hour-long workshop for middle-school students, and a two hour-long workshop for high school students. Students in the workshops will learn basic acting methods, techniques, and fundamentals.

The series is being held at the Mountain View Regional, East Marietta, and East Cobb Libraries. The workshops are free, but registration is required and space is limited. For more information, including dates, times, and locations, please visit

Celebrate Women's History Month at the library

The Cobb County Public Library System is honoring the contributions and lasting legacies of women throughout history with several events in March. All events are free and open to the public.

The highlight of the library system’s celebration will be an online trivia contest. Join us to learn more about the women who have shaped our nation, and you could win a prize! We'll also be featuring women in the library system who have extraordinary talents and skills.

The second-annual Local Authors Expo will be held on Saturday, March 3 at the Central Library from 11 am to 3 pm. Come and meet local authors, talk with them about their writing experience, & purchase their books! The authors will donate a portion of their sales to support the Cobb County Public Library System.
