Celebrate the fun of reading at our annual Reading Celebration

The Cobb County Public Library System is celebrating the end of our summer reading program with our annual party at the Central Library. This year's theme is "Celebration! Library Stars."

Please join us on Saturday, August 4 from 5-7 p.m. for fun activities, music, crafts, and more. Artwork from the Hero in Me program will be on display, and videos from the Triple D Production Company will be available to view. We'll also be announcing the winners of the iPad 2 and the Sony eReaders!

For more information, please visit www.cobbcat.org/srp or call (770) 528-2330.

Join us for fun, educational programs in August

We've said it before, and we'll say it again: there's something for everyone at the library. In August, we have programs planned for people of all ages. We invite you to take a look at the full calendar online.

Here's a sampling of our events in August:

Get assistance with your eBooks, eAudiobooks with OverDrive Help

overdrive help

Have you wondered how eBooks work? Are you wondering if the library's eBooks will work with your eReader? Learn more about all of these things with OverDrive Help!

OverDrive, the company that provides some of the library's digital downloads, has compiled helpful instructions, videos, tutorials, and more on their Help page. If you have a question about how to install OverDrive Media Console, how to transfer books to your device, or other related questions, this is a great place to go for information. We have also compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions on our website. And, of course, you're always welcome to contact the library for assistance.

Visit your favorite state park for free

Planning a visit to one of Georgia's amazing state parks or historical sites? The Cobb County Public Library System might be able to help you. We have several ParkPass kits in our collection.

The ParkPass kit gives library patrons in Georgia free admission or parking to more than 60 State Parks and Historic Site locations of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Each ParkPass pass is available for check-out for one week to allow for free entry for up to four visitors. The kits also include a parking pass and guide booklet. The ParkPass is a budget-saver for families: most Daily ParkPasses are $5.

You're encouraged to reserve ParkPass kits in advance, especially for busy vacation seasons. Planning is also highly recommended as hours vary at States Parks and Historic Sites, with several operating under limited schedules due to tight budgets. To learn more about healthy outdoor adventure ideas promoted by the DNR, visit www.getoutdoorsgeorgia.org.
