National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated September 15 through October 15. Cobb County Public Libraries are celebrating with several events, including:

Bilingual Storytime: Cuentos Bilingues at Switzer Library every Wednesday from 4 pm – 4:30 pm starting on October 2. This program offers a variety of English and Spanish stories, songs, and rhymes. 770-528-2320

Cuentacuentos en Español (Storytelling in Spanish) at Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center every Thursday from 10:15 am – 10:45 am starting on October 10. Ages 2 to 5. 770-509-2711

Make it Thursday at Powder Springs Library on October 3 from 4 pm – 5 pm. We will be making Papel Picado Flags, a decorative craft considered a Mexican folk art. 770-439-3600

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage at North Cobb Regional Library on Saturday, October 5 from 10 am – 2 pm.

Enjoy a festival – fun for the whole family – celebrating Hispanic culture and heritage as you experience the vibrant art, dance, music, foods, history and literature of Latin America.

Throughout the event browse our display of art and artifacts, browse and check out books featuring the fiction, culture and history of Latin America’s diverse regions, and learn about the library’s Spanish language resources. Enjoy folkloric songs and dance, a bilingual story time, make a craft, take your picture in our colorful photo booth and much, much more.

Tween STEAM at Powder Springs Library on Monday, October 7 from 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm. We will be celebrating Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) by making Skeleton Art. 770-439-3600

Family Fun Time at East Cobb Library on Wednesday, October 9 from 3:30 pm – 4:45 pm. Families with children of all ages will learn about Hispanic Heritage Month through a variety of activities. 770-509-2730

Teens Spanish Language Interest Group at South Cobb Regional Library meets on Monday, October 14 from 4:30 – 5:30 pm. Learn and practice your Spanish speaking skills, get help with your homework, and meet other bilingual friends. For tweens and teens between the ages of 11-17. 678-398-5828
