7 Cobb County Public Libraries will reopen to the public under limited services starting Monday, July 6, 2020. These libraries include East Cobb, Mountain View Regional, North Cobb Regional, Sewell Mill, South Cobb Regional, Vinings, and West Cobb Regional. Hours will be Mondays from 10 am – 8 pm and Tuesdays through Fridays from 10 am – 6 pm.

Patrons entering the library will be screened with a temperature check and strongly encouraged to wear masks.

Casual visits of more than a few minutes to libraries and sitting down will not be possible under the health and safety guidelines for maintaining social distancing for reducing the community spread of COVID-19.

Patrons are asked to limit visits to the following activities:

  • Browse and check out material.
  • Pick up holds. Curbside hold pickup remains an option for patrons who do no wish to enter library buildings but is available on a more limited basis. See below for more details.
  • Manage library accounts – apply for a new card, renew existing card, pay fines, or place holds.
  • Use public computer. See more details below on reserving a computer in advance.
  • Complete the Census.
  • Seek reference/information assistance.

The following is NOT available during limited services:

  • Space to sit, read, or utilize electronic devices (including charging devices) is not available in any area of the library.
  • Study rooms and meeting rooms.
  • Creative Studios in the Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center.
  • Proctoring.
  • In-person programming. All programming will continue to be virtual with the exception of some outdoor events.

For even more information, read our Press Release here.

Book Drops

Outdoor book drops at all Cobb library locations with the exception of Switzer Library and Windy Hill Library are open. Please note that returned items will be placed in quarantine directly from book drops. Items will remain on your account for up to 5 days. Items will be checked in and your account updated after items come out of quarantine.

When libraries re-open July 6, indoor book drops will remain closed to maintain the integrity of the quarantine process. However, Book Club Kits and items that do not fit in outdoor book drops may be brought into the building and deposited into a receptacle provided by staff, which will be taken to the quarantine area.

Curbside Service

The 7 libraries providing curbside hold pickup will continue the service to accommodate patrons who wish to borrow materials without entering library buildings. However, hours will be reduced due to staffing considerations.

Beginning July 6, Curbside Hold Pickup hours are Mondays from 11 am – 2 pm and 5 – 7 pm; and Tuesdays through Fridays from 11 am – 2 pm. There will be no weekend service.

Public Computer Use

The number of available public PCs has been reduced to enable social distancing. To minimize the number of patrons waiting for computers, you may now call ahead to reserve computer time. We will accept same-day reservations only.

Patrons may reserve a computer for 1 hour. If, at the end of the first session, computers are available, patrons may reserve a second hour. The two hour per day limit will be strictly enforced in order to make the limited number of PCs readily available to more patrons.

Walk-ins are still welcomed, but self-serve reservation stations will be disabled in branches that offer them. If you make a reservation in-person, we ask that you wait outside or in your car until your computer comes available.

We are not currently accepting donations.

Telephone Information Service Available

Struggling with what to read next? Need reference or research assistance? Have a question about your account? Want to know more about Library Express? All branches are providing telephone information. Libraries that are open to the public will take calls during operating hours. Libraries NOT open to the public are still taking calls Monday through Friday from 10 am – 5 pm.
