The Cobb County Public Library System now offers streaming video directly to library patrons’ computers, smartphones and tablets. Free for Cobb library cardholders, the new service features a catalog of more than 400 streaming video selections of digital feature films, documentaries, educational films, children’s favorites and more.

StreamingVideoNowAvailableThe new streaming video service is powered by OverDrive, a provider of downloadable eBooks and audiobooks in the Cobb library’s digital collection. Streaming movies can be viewed from the Cobb library’s OverDrive website, http://cobbcounty.lib.overdrive.com, on almost any PC through an Internet browser and on most mobile devices, including Apple iOS and Android devices.

The process is simple for accessing available streaming video selections. Click “play” to watch in your browser or download the Overdrive app for your device to add the streaming video to your in-app bookshelf. Sample videos are also available.

We recommend you visit the Overdrive “getting started” page for an introduction to the service and try a test video to make sure that your computer or device can play the streaming video content. For the “getting started” page, please click here.

Many library patrons requested the addition of streaming video to the library’s digital collection. Circulation of the Cobb library’s free digital resources, including downloadable eBooks and audiobooks, has increased sharply in recent years.

For more information on the library’s streaming video collection, please visit the E-Library at www.cobbcat.org or http://cobbcounty.lib.overdrive.com.
