The Cobb County Public Library System is hosting several events in January on the life and works of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. You can also find special MLK displays at Cobb libraries and in the library catalog.

Upcoming library events paying tribute to Dr. King include:

Preschool-Toddler Story Time at Sweetwater Valley Library on Wednesday, January 13, 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., will feature stories, music and a craft in honor of Dr. King. Information: (770) 819-3290.

Several books on MLK are in the Cobb library catalog.

Peace and friendship are the story time themes in honor of Dr. King at Powder Springs Library for the Toddler Tales program on Wednesday, January 13, 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and the Ready Readers program for preschoolers on Thursday, 14, 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Information: (770) 439-6664.

Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. programs for all ages at West Cobb Regional Library include Thursday, January 14 and Friday, January 15, 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. both dates; and Saturday, January 16, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. We will be making a craft inspired by Dr. King’s message of peace and justice during the drop-in programs. Children of all ages are invited to Family Fun Time at East Cobb Library on Wednesday, January 20 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:25 p.m. for a celebration of Dr. King. No registration required for the story time program. Information: (770) 509-2730.

The Cobb County Public Library System will be closed Monday, January 18 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

A community celebration honoring Dr. King is scheduled for January 18th at 10 a.m. at the Turner Chapel AME Church, 492 North Marietta Parkway NE, Marietta  30060.
