Kick-off events for the 2015 Summer Reading Program are scheduled throughout the Cobb County Public Library System. The 2015 themes are “Every hero has a story” for children, teens’ “Unmask! and “Escape the Ordinary” for adults.

The special events will feature a variety of fun activities and a chance to preview the more than 400 SRP events planned for Cobb libraries. For details on the busy lineup, browse the calendar at

EveryHeroHasAStorySummer Reading Kick-Off Party at Switzer Library, in collaboration with the Sibley and Stratton libraries, on Thursday, May 28, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Kids will have summer break fun with games, crafts, and other activities. Information: (770) 528-2331.

The Magic Man Presents “Superhero Academy” at Kemp Memorial Library, Monday, June 1, 11 a.m. to noon.  The event with Bill Packard, “The Magic Guy,” will feature a retired Superhero sharing hero techniques to students such as X-Ray vision, Super Sonic Speed, Invisibility and even flying! Summer Reading Kick-Off Party at South Cobb Regional Library on Monday, June 1, noon to 3 p.m. Games, crafts, face painting, cooking demonstrations, representatives of the Georgia Path2 College 529 Plan, and a Magic Show at 2 p.m. by Magician Bill Packard. Information: (678) 398-5828.

Acworth Library Open House on Wednesday, June 3, noon to 1 p.m. Acworth Library welcomes the community for a special event for meeting the library staff, fellow patrons, and community leaders. “Superhero Academy” Kickoff Party featuring Bill Packard, “The Magic Man,” at Gritters Library on Thursday, June 4, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. “Superhero Academy” is designed to teach children how to emulate the characteristics of heroes and inspire them to learn more. Summer Kick-Off: Juggler Adam Boehmer at East Cobb Library on Saturday, June 6, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The professional juggler will amaze you as he juggles various objects, performs Chinese yo-yo tricks and his unicycle, and more! Juggler Adam Boehmer will make another appearance on Saturday, June 6 at West Cobb Regional Library for their Super Saturday: Up, Up, and Away! This high-energy program is for families with children of all ages, no registration is required.
