In honor of African American History Month, Switzer Library is presenting a special screening of the film “By Any Other Name: An Exploration of Afro-Amerindian Heritage” on Tuesday, February 20 from 3 pm – 5 pm.

The screening of the award-winning film will feature a discussion led by the filmmaker, Steven D. Gayle from Kennesaw State University. He will be discussing his own family history while examining the concepts of how Africans and American Indians in the United States interacted in the past as well as today.

The documentary features Gayle interviewing professional academics, local historians, Native-American community members, and family members to shed a light on the overlooked interactions between Africans and American Indians. The film opens the door to talking about changing the documentation methods surrounding racial classification in the United States.

Switzer Library is located at 266 Roswell Street, Marietta 30060. 770-528-2320
