THE POSITION
This position is located at the
West Cobb Regional Branch
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
•Provide reference services to the
public; assist with children’s services

databases and other databases licensed
by the Library
•Select books and other materials for
library acquisition; perform collection
maintenance duties

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•Master’s degree in
Library/Information Science accredited
by the ALA
•State Public Librarian Certification
•Previous experience in Children's
Services desirable
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Physical Requirements: Regularly
required to sit; use hands to finger,
handle, or feel; reach with hands and
arms; and lift and/or move up to 10 to
20 pounds
Schedule: 40 Hours Per Week; (includes
some nights and weekends; and every 7th
Sunday from 1:00-5:00p)

THE POSITION
There are three positions available.
The positions are located at the Powder
Springs branch and the East Marietta Branch.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
•Responsible for Youth Services
•May supervise branch in absence of head
librarian
•Performs Adult Reference and Reader Service
duties
•Performs circulation duties such as
checking books in and out, registering
patrons for library cards and receiving
overdue fines
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•Master's degree in Library Science
•Two years progressively knowledgeable and
skilled experience as a professional
Librarian in a branch library, or in a
specialized library function that provides
broad knowledge of system-wide policies,
procedures, and operations
•Previous experience in Youth Services
desirable
•State public library certification

INFORMATION ASSISTANT
Openings:
Salary:
$9.85 per hour
Work Cycle:
19 Hours per week (Every other Sunday,
but may be more often; evenings; other days and locations as assigned.)
Essential
Functions:
Work at the Circulation,
Information, and Reference desks as assigned, along with
other public service desks in adult services, children’s and
special collections. Interact with the public on the
use of computer equipment and online reference resources.
Answer questions and assist the public in person and on the
phone. Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from a college or university required.
Good communication skills. Strong customer services skills.
Basic keyboarding skills. Ability to work independently in a
busy environment. Any combination of education, training,
and experience to provide the knowledge, skills and
abilities required for the job. Experience with computers.
Physical
Requirements:
Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force
occasionally and or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and
or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

LIBRARY TECHNICIAN

Work Cycle: 19 hours per week
(Monday - Sunday) - Varies
Essential
Duties:
Perform public service
duties including circulation, cash handling and voter and patron
registration. Assisting patrons, both adults and children.
Searching shelves for materials; filing as needed.
Minimum
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED.
Two years of college preferred but not required. Previous
public library experience helpful. Ability to work at a public
service desk.
Physical
Requirements:
Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and
or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and or a negligible amount of
force constantly to move objects.

their proper place. Straighten and balance shelves.

PART TIME:
Applications are available at all libraries and the
South and East Cobb Government offices. These applications may be
returned to the branch where the vacancy is located. Once received,
applications are kept on file in the Administrative Office for six
months.
