Threadmill MallJoin us as we continue our virtual tour of the 16 branches of the Cobb County Public Library System! Take a look at some of our previous stops, and then journey with us as we take a look at our featured branch for this week: Sweetwater Valley Library!

The Sweetwater Valley Library is located in Austell in the historic Threadmill Complex, on the first floor corridor near City of Austell government offices. A small neighborhood branch, Sweetwater has a rich history rooted in community spirit. Previously located in downtown Austell, the library moved in 2003 into the three-story former Coats and Clark Thread Mill after the city of Austell bought the mill and converted it into an office and government facility.

Fun Fact

The Sweetwater Valley Library traces its beginnings to the successful efforts of the Austell Women’s Club to make establishment of a circulating library one of the club’s first projects. The club was founded in 1913.  The club headquarters, built in 1922, was a log cabin and the library moved into it.
