Hello from 2030: The Science of the Future and You is a new book posing questions for young readers to consider about what the world will be like in 15 or so years. Written by Jan Paul Schutten, a native of the Netherlands, Hello from 2030 explores scientific advancements and challenges ahead.

What will cars be like? Houses? What food supply and quality can be expected for the global population of about 8 billion people? A cleaner or choked environment? Medicine? What computers and robots can we expect? How are scientific predictions developed?

HelloFrom2030Will the predictions Schutten describes be on target or silly?

A School Library Journal review calls Hello “[an] introduction to science forecasting for the 21st century” for readers in the 5th grade and up with discussion-sparking sections on health, food, energy, robotics and other scientific topics. “Hand it to a science lover,” the reviewer states, “and watch the conversation flow.”

From a review in Publishers Weekly: “Between the possibilities Schutten invokes and the many digital illustrations of imaginary futuristic tech, the book should leave readers wondering what their future might look like.”

Hello from 2030 is in the Cobb County Public Library System’s Juvenile Collection. To place a reserve for the book, click here or ask to be added to the waiting list at any Cobb library location.
