Several programs and activities highlight Valentine’s Day themes at Cobb County Public Library System in February. Please note, for some children’s programs a parent or caregiver is expected to stay with the young children and participate in the activities.

Upcoming Valentine’s Day-themed programs include:

I Love My Library, a contest at East Cobb Library for patrons to submit poetry, art and essays showing their love/support of the library, kicks off on Saturday, February 14. The contest will run through March 14. Winners in three age categories – Adults, Teens and Children (age 5-12) – will be announced at the start of National Library Week, April 13-18. The winners will receive a library T-shirt and the winning entries will be shown on the TV in the library lobby.

‘I love….’ @Switzer Library Maker’s Space will be open through February for making pictures of what or who you love. We’ll create a giant collage in the Switzer Children’s Activity Area.

ValentinesDayGritters Craft Meet-up – Valentine Cards at Gritters Library on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2-3 p.m. Debby Boyce from Mountain View Library will be the instructor. Materials will be provided. For ages 16 and up.

Terrific Twos @ Mountain View, I Love Valentine’s Day at Mountain View Regional Library on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 10:15-10:45 a.m.. Toddlers are introduced to pre-literacy skills and socialization.

Wiggle Worms! Toddler Story Time at Gritters Library on Feb. 10, 10:05 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Stories and songs for you and your toddler. Read How Do Dinosaurs Say I Love You? aloud, dance, sing and make a rainbow heart to hang on your door.

Toddler Tadpoles Say I Love You at East Cobb Library on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 10:15 a.m. Stories, finger plays and lots of music for children ages 1-2.

Little Listeners @ Mountain View, I Love Valentine’s Day at Mountain View Regional Library on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 11-11:30 a.m. Through music, finger-plays and the reading of one or two short books, pre-schoolers are introduced to pre-literacy skills and socialization.

Be My Valentine, Preschool Pollywags! at East Cobb Library on Tuesday, Feb. 10 and Wednesday, Feb.11, 11 a.m., both dates. Stories, songs, fun activities and a short film.  Ages 3-5.

Toddler Tales: Valentine’s Cards at Kemp Memorial Library on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 10-10:45 a.m. Story time with age appropriate stories, songs and activities.

Toddler Tadpoles Say I Love You at East Cobb Library on Feb. 11, 10:15 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. For ages 1-2.

My First Story Time @ Mountain View, I Love Valentine’s Day at Mountain View Regional Library on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 10:15-10:45 a.m.. Through music, finger-plays and the reading of one or two short books, infants between the ages of 6 weeks and 15 months are introduced to pre-literacy skills and socialization at the library.

Toddler Time at Switzer Library on Feb. 11, 11-11:30 a.m. Everyone 18 months to 3 years old with a caregiver will have a great time with age appropriate books, rhymes, songs, activities and more!

Terrific Toddlers at Powder Springs Library on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 11-11:45 a.m. Toddlers celebrate Valentine’s Day and discover new books, sing, move, play and create. Ages 18 to 36 months.

Wee Ones @ Mountain View, I Love Valentine’s Day at Mountain View Regional Library on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 11-11:30 a.m. Babies are introduced to pre-literacy skills and socialization at the library through music, finger plays and the reading of one or two short books. Ages 15 months to 2 years.

Wee Readers: Are You My Valentine? at Kemp Memorial Library on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 11:15 a.m. to noon. Storytime with age appropriate books, songs, activities, a movie and a craft.

Family Fun Time’s Secret Valentine at East Cobb Library on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 3:30-4:15 p.m. Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a variety of books, a short film and crafts.  All ages.

Ms. Frizzle’s Science Lab at Powder Springs Library on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Elementary age students will explore the science of magnetism.

Preschool Power Lunch at Powder Springs Library on Thursday, Feb. 12, 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. Toddlers will bring lunches to celebrate Valentine’s Day with art, reading, music and movement.

Tween Friday: Fun with Chocolate at South Cobb Regional Library on Friday, Feb. 13, 4-5 p.m. The program will include games involving chocolate.

Valentine Make and Take at East Marietta Library on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Kids will make a valentine for either someone special or a character from favorite books.

Disney’s Cinderella will be shown at Switzer Library on Saturday, Feb. 14, 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., as part of the Family Movies series.
