Free events scheduled for Saturday afternoon at Cobb County Public Library System locations include special book discussions, history programs and movies.

Programs on the library calendar for February 7 include:

Special Marietta Reads Story Time at Switzer Library, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.  In support of the Marietta Reads program, this very special story time is for reading “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” and making wind-mobiles. This is a family-friendly event for all ages.

UndergroundRailroadDiscovering the Underground Railroad at South Cobb Regional Library from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sheri Jackson, Southeast Regional Manager of the National Park Service’s National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Program, will discuss the efforts of enslaved African Americans to gain freedom through escape and flight with the assistance of people who opposed slavery, through the end of the U.S. Civil War.

Teen Cinema & Anime Club at East Cobb Library at 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Join other teen anime and film enthusiasts for a movie, snacks and activities. For grades 6-12.

The Teen Movie Saturday: Don’t Judge a Book by Its Movie Series at South Cobb Regional Library continues at 2 p.m. with a movie and discussion. This Saturday’s movie is Warm Bodies.

Author and veteran Kevin Horgan will discuss his historical novel, March of the 18th: A Story of Crippled Heroes of the Civil War, at Mountain View Regional Library, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The novel is about a forgotten unit of Civil War veterans who vowed to make a difference through their continued service. Cars is the next film in the Family Movies series at Switzer Library, 3 p.m. Saturday.
