School’s out September 25-29 for students and staff of the Cobb County and Marietta City school districts, and some area private schools and homeschoolers. Enjoy the Fall Break with fun activities at the library!
Upcoming events and activities at Cobb County Public Library System locations include:
Mary Poppins Party at Switzer Library from noon to 1 pm will be going on Monday through Friday. The celebration will feature sing-a-longs, flying kites, and maybe even penguins and chimney sweeps!
Fall Break Fun at West Cobb Regional Library will feature different activities all week long. The schedule includes Monday, all day: Drop in crafts. Tuesday, 6:30 pm to 8 pm: Outrageous Hat Night. Wednesday: Stories and Bingo to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Thursday, 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm: Make Your Own Instruments. Friday: Bring Your Lunch and Watch a Movie.
Drop in Face-Painting at Lewis A. Ray Library on Monday, 11 am to 1 pm. Kids will get to choose from an assortment of designs they like and pick their favorite one to get painted on their face and show off to their friends.
Fall Break Family Movie at Gritters Library on Monday, 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. We will be screening Sing, the tale of how a theater owner tries to save his theater with a singing competition filled with talented animals. Bring your favorite refreshments and enjoy the show!
STEAM Club: Egg Drop Challenge at Powder Springs Library on Monday, 4 pm to 5 pm. We will test tweens’ design and engineering skills by seeing who can build a container that will keep an egg safe after it is dropped from the top of a ladder. This program is for kids ages 9-14.
Tech Tuesday at Gritters Library on Tuesday, 3:30 pm to 4 pm will focus on Sphero robots and how to program them. Once kids learn how they work they will get the opportunity to navigate them through an obstacle course. This program is for children in elementary school.
Movie Night at Acworth Library on Tuesday, 5 pm to 7 pm will feature Big Hero 6, a film about the bond between a boy, Hiro, and his robot, Baymax. With the help of their friends, can Hiro and Baymax save the world from an evil super-villain bent on destroying them?
Family Fun Time at East Cobb Library on Wednesday, 3:30 pm to 4:15 pm is a program for families with kids of all ages. This 40-50 minute program features a variety of different activities ranging from games, music, crafts, and parachute play. This week’s theme is “Way Up High in the Apple Tree”.
Show and Tell History at Kennesaw Library on Wednesday, 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm is a great way for kids ages 5 -7 to learn about the past. We will be featuring guest speaker JoyEllen Freeman, an Archivist from Kennesaw State University.
Fall Break VR at Gritters Library on Friday, 3:30 pm to 5 pm gives teens and adults a chance to experience the latest in our virtual reality technology. With our VR you can paint a picture, visit a new world, ride a rollercoaster, and much more!
