Cobb County students and families have lots of options for Spring Break 2017 at Cobb County libraries – fun games, opportunities to experience virtual reality, attend a Job Fair, enjoy a movie, go to a Sherlock Holmes party and more!

Spring Break is April 3-7 for the students and staff of the Cobb County and Marietta City school districts. Some area private schools and home schools will also be on break.

Everyone who will be on break is encouraged to check out some of the fun of activities your Cobb County public libraries have to offer!

STEAM Break afternoon programs at the Switzer Library are scheduled for April 3 through April 7 from 3 pm to 5 pm. Monday-Science, Tuesday-Tech, Wednesday-Engineering, Thursday-Art and Friday-Math. (770) 528-2331

Spring Break Family Movies at Switzer Library starting at noon on Monday, April 3 through Saturday, April 8 offers fun for the whole family. Screenings include: Monday – Pan; Tuesday – Peter Pan (2003); Wednesday – Finding Dory; Thursday – Snow White and the Seven Dwarves; Friday – Robin Hood, and Saturday – Alice in Wonderland. CAREing PAWS Reading Program at Acworth Library on Monday, April 3 between 4 pm and 5 pm a trained dog named Polly will lend her ears to help build literacy skills in elementary age children. Registration is required. Please call Acworth Library to reserve your spot today! (770) 917-5165.

Artsy Afternoon at West Cobb Regional Library on Monday, April 3 from 2:30 pm to 3:30pm offers a wide variety of activities to keep kids entertained while they are enjoying their vacation from school. Some activities may require adult assistance. (770) 528-4699

Teen Resume Writing and Interviewing Skills Workshop at Stratton Library on Tuesday, April 4 from 1 pm to 3 pm will cover how to impress employers. The event is before the April 6th Teens/Young Adults Job Fair at Stratton slated for 1 pm to 3 pm that will include more several area employers. (770) 528-2522

Acworth Family Night at Acworth Library on Tuesday, April 4 from 6 pm to 6:45 pm offers a wide variety of fun for the whole family! Families can enjoy board games, puzzles, or a friendly game of cards. Feel free to bring a game from home. You never know how many new friends you could make by teaching them to play a new game! Family Story Time at Vinings Library on Tuesday, April 4 from 7 pm to 7:30 pm is a program welcoming all children, parents and caregivers, but most suitable for young children up to 6 years old. The program features stories, songs, crafts and more. (770) 801-5330.

Catch the Beat at Mountain View Regional Library on Wednesday, April 5 from 2 pm to 3:30 pm is a fun fitness session for tweens ages 9 to 12. The energizing session is led by ACE certified fitness instructor Quan Harris. Registration is required. (770) 509-2725.

Drawing with Scissors at Lewis A. Ray Library on Wednesday, April 5 from 3 pm to 4 pm offers children aged 8 and up a chance to learn about paintings and collages by artist Henri Matisse and to create their own collage. The Teens/Young Adults Job Fair at Stratton Library on Thursday, April 6 from 1 pm to 3 pm that will be a chance to meet employers, apply for jobs and for possible onsite interviews. Virtual Reality – Works of Art at Mountain View Regional Library on Thursday, April 6 from 2 pm to 5 pm gives budding artists an opportunity to experience 3D art. You may register for 15 minute sessions to create your own work of 3D art with Tilt Brush or take a virtual tour of the VR Museum of Fine Art. Teens, you are invited to It’s a Sherlock Party Watson! at Kennesaw Library on Thursday, April 6 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm for a special event in honor of the great detective! There will be refreshments and a Sherlock party for everyone to enjoy.
