Featured STEAM programs include:

GEMS: Girls in Engineering, Math and Science is being offered at five Cobb County libraries in June. GEMS runs four weeks for two-hour afternoon sessions for girls ages 13-17. Explore tech and meet influential women in STEM careers. Registration is limited to 25 girls at each location, including the Switzer, East Cobb, South Cobb, Mountain View and West Cobb libraries. STEM Mondays at Vinings Library is scheduled for 2 pm to 3 pm on June 6, June 20 and July 18. School age children are invited to join in fun and interactive activities that focus on science, technology, engineering and math. Tween Programs at Powder Springs Library Mondays from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm is a series offering fun activities. The series runs June 6th through July 18th, except the July 4th holiday. The series will include STEAM activities, Duct Tape Craft, Lego Challenge and much more. Ages 9-12. (770) 439-3600.

Art and Science Everywhere! at Switzer Library on Tuesdays from 3pm to 4 pm on June 7, July 5 and July 26. Join us for high energy library fun. We will be painting with sports equipment, learning new games, marathoning books and more. This program is recommended for school age children. (770) 528-2331.

It is Rocket Science at the East Marietta Library on Tuesday, July 12 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Join Chris Thompson of NASA’s Solar System Ambassadors Program as he takes you through the science of rockets and space travel with hands-on activities and fun experiments. Ages 6 and up. (770) 509-2711.

Brushbot Racing at East Marietta Library on Tuesday, July 19 from 3 pm to 4 pm. Test your ability to make and race brushbots while learning about closed circuits and the effects of friction on speed.
