Come try out virtual reality with our HTC Vive VR headset!  You can travel the globe with Google Earth, create 3D art with Tilt Brush, explore and play mini games in the Lab, or ride a virtual roller coaster! No registration required but each patron is limited to a 10 minute time slot. Parents must remain in the library for children younger than 12 years old.

Join Manav Ramprasad, chess champion and Wheeler High School student, for a mini chess camp every Wednesday and Friday in July from 10am to Noon.  Interactive lessons and free play against other kids and the instructor in the teen room. Manav ranked in the top 100 chess players among his age in the country, and has won the Connecticut State Championship for 9th graders, taking 3rd among all high schoolers. Mumferd Learns How to Be Safe in Busy Places

Mumferd is a big kid now, and doesn't think he needs Grandma Mumfreda's help in the store or crossing the street. He learns that even "big kids" need to follow safety rules. The workshop teaches children safety rules if they are separated from an adult, and allows the children to practice crossing the street from the safety of the library. For ages: 3 to 7 years old with an participating adult.

Join us for a fun session of coding related activities that exposes children to the world of coding. We will focus on hands-on coding activities including crafts and more that introduces young minds to coding concepts. Laptops are not required.
