Churches have always been an important part of the African-American community, especially in the rural south. Please join staff from Switzer Library’s Georgia Room to learn the history of several prominent Georgia African-American churches and the genealogical records of their congregants.

**The Georgia Room’s African American Collection is a collection of materials highlighting the cultural life and contributions of people of African descent in Marietta and Cobb County. It contains materials highlighting the historical, social, civic, religious, economic, and cultural life of African Americans. The collection contains unique resources such as books and photographs as well as original documents and newspaper clippings in our vertical file collection.**
