The word “Bonsai” is a Japanese term, which literally means “planted in a container.” Join us as Mark Wolfe, Environmental Education and Communications Manager at Smith Gilbert Gardens, shares the fascinating history and practice of bonsai, the ancient art form that originated in China more than 2,000 years ago and was later re-imagined and influenced by Japanese Buddhism.

Find out what goes into the care and of Smith-Gilbert’s expertly curated bonsai collection, and learn about the basics of bonsai care at home.
