Story to Screen: A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center

Wednesday, August 14 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

It’s a book club…with a twist! Join us every month to continue the age-old debate: which was better, the original or the adaptation? Read the short story, watch the film with us, and then participate in an open discussion. Link to the story is provided below.

STORY: “Super-Toys Last All Summer Long” by Bryan Aldiss

SCREEN:  Steven Spielberg’s A.I. Artificial Intelligence

A robotic boy, the first programmed to love, David is adopted as a test case by a Cybertronics employee and his wife. Though he gradually becomes their child, a series of unexpected circumstances make this life impossible for David. Without final acceptance by humans or machines, David embarks on a journey to discover where he truly belongs, uncovering a world in which the line between robot and machine is both vast and profoundly thin.

Rated PG-13. Children under 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The screening will be held in the Black Box Theater. No food and drink are allowed.
