Diwali, Festival of Lights
Saturday, November 2 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm| Free
Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, which is celebrated every autumn in the northern hemisphere. One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, Diwali symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.” The festival generally falls between mid-October and mid-November. The preparations, and rituals, for the festival typically last five days.
People adorn themselves in their finest clothes, illuminate the interior and exterior of their homes with lamps and candles, offer prayers, light fireworks, partake in family feasts, where sweets and gifts are shared. Diwali is a major cultural event for Indian families in the United States.
Come share the joy of this festival and take home a craft to share with your family.
