The Mountain View Regional Library is excited to host Code.org’s certified facilitator, Tanya Cheeves. Mrs. Cheeves is a Georgia certified K-5 Gifted Education teacher, Computer Science facilitator and Pioneer RESA Gifted Endorsement Instructor. She will present Code.org’s CS Fundamentals Workshop to classroom teachers, homeschool instructors and public librarians interested in teaching computer science to elementary students.

Featuring ways to enhance the 3 C’s and 2 P’s of Computation Thinking through engaging UNPLUGGED and Plugged activities, Mrs. Cheeves will introduce learning strategies that emphasize critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, problem solving and perseverance.

Code.org workshops receive rave reviews, and are open to any K-5 instructor – no computer background needed. Integrate computer science once a week into the classroom or the library with Code.org’s 20-hour courses for beginners. Educators will learn how to introduce computer science basics in a format that’s fun and accessible to the youngest learners and also receive a Code.org K-5 curriculum guide along with all the supplies needed to teach!

*NEW CURRICULUM PATHWAY AND COURSES ALIGNED FOR EACH GRADE LEVEL K-5!

*Participants will need to bring their own laptop to the workshop.
