African American History Month at the Movies

Come join us to celebrate African American History Month by watching two movies that honor African Americans and events in history. Movie time begins at 3:00pm at Switzer Library.

The award winning movie Selma, depicts the pivot real-life events around the struggle for the right to vote for black Americans, led by Martin Luther King Jr. and culminating with the historical march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama.
Directed by Ron Howard, starring David Oyelowo, Tom Wilkinson, Tim Roth, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Oprah Winfrey.

A Philadelphia swim coach creates the first all black swim team, made up of troubled youth, This movie is inspired by actual events in Jim Ellis’ life and which he later received the President’s Award from the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
