The Cobb County Geographic Information Systems (GIS) staff is celebrating GIS Day with an open house on Wednesday, November 19. The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Cobb County Senior Services ballroom, 1150 Powder Springs Street, Suite 100, Marietta 30064.

GISdayThe Cobb County GIS Day will include demonstrations, maps, door prizes and refreshments. Cobb County is hosting the event in partnership with local cities and universities. The event is free and open to the public.

GIS Day is celebrated with Discovering the World Through GIS events organized to show how Graphic Information Systems technology is used in communities across the globe. GIS computer applications are used as decision-making tools involving mapping and data on a variety of subjects, including economics, environment and natural resources, property records, zoning, public safety, public health, historic resources and more.
