Community volunteers play a major role in the success of the Cobb Library Book Sale. The Spring 2018 Book Sale is this weekend, April 13-15, at the Cobb Civic Center in Marietta.

The sale includes donated books, DVDs, and much more. The semi-annual sale is also a social event for people from Cobb, the North Georgia region and beyond.

Book Sale hours are 9 am to 5 pm Friday and Saturday,  and Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm. Patrons may purchase up to two boxes of items at a time on Friday until 1 pm. Sunday is BYOB (Bring Your Own Box) day for patrons to bring in any size box they like to fill up for a bargain.

The Book Sale is made possible by library staff and volunteers from all over the community who have been hard at work this week. Volunteers also provide assistance year-round in organizing donated items for the Book Sale and for in-house Book Sales at Cobb libraries. Many volunteers have served for more than a decade.

Susan Baker, a community volunteer who has worked on the Book Sale every year for 12 years, said it’s a great way to bring the community together and to support the library system.

“Not only is it fun to see the excitement on people’s faces when they find something they love,” she said, “but knowing that this is something that helps the library and the community in the long run is very fulfilling.”

As Kemp Library volunteer Vicki Williams says, “Come on down, you never know what treasures you will find.”

The Cobb Civic Center is located at 548 South Marietta Pkwy. SE, Marietta 30060 and has plenty of free parking. Acceptable forms of payment are cash and checks.
