Older adults are cheated out of billions of dollars to scammers each year.

On Monday, May 6 from 7 pm – 8 pm, West Cobb Regional Library is having an event free and open to the public on Senior Fraud.

Investigator Duncan of the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office will be presenting the program for seniors and adult caregivers educating people on how to protect themselves and their loved ones.

Anyone of any age can fall victim to scammers, but oftentimes it is older adults who are targeted.

“Older Americans are less likely to report a fraud because they don’t know who to report it to, are too ashamed at having been scammed, or don’t know they have been scammed,” the FBI says.

According to the FBI’s website on Senior Fraud, seniors are the most at risk because of nest-eggs and savings accrued over the years. In this presentation we will go over what to look for, the different kinds of scams, and how to report them.
