Cobb County Library Spring Book Sale 2020 is Cancelled
The Spring 2020 Cobb County Library Book Sale is cancelled in response to concerns about the Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) virus.
The event was scheduled for Friday through Sunday, March 13-15, at the Cobb County Civic Center in Marietta.
Cobb Library Book Sale events – staged each spring and fall – attract thousands of people from metro Atlanta and beyond. The events raise funding to support Cobb libraries.
Cobb County Manager Rob Hosack and Deputy County Manager Dr. Jackie McMorris decided to cancel the Book Sale due to the nature of the event.
“Cobb County is following the expert guidance from CDC epidemiologists and others to limit large social events and to avoid touching surfaces like books and DVDs handled by others during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Cobb Library Director Helen Poyer.
“The Book Sale is always a highlight of the year for the Cobb library community and full of energy and neighborliness among library supporters,” Poyer said. “We must respond with the same community spirit to fight the spread of COVID-19.”
The Fall 2020 Cobb Library Book Sale is scheduled for October 9-11 at the Cobb County Civic Center.
