The Spring 2017 Cobb County Library Book Sale will be held March 10-12 at the Jim R. Miller Park in Marietta. Cobb library book sale events – staged each spring and fall – are among the largest in Georgia, and attract people from throughout the Atlanta region and beyond.
The Book Sale features donated hardback and paperback books, CDs, DVDs, audiocassettes and videocassettes. Sales categories include novels, picture books, travel, cookbooks, science, travel, biography and other topics for all ages and reading levels.
Prices vary from ten cents to $4.
Jonathan McKeown, Associate Library Manager of Branch Services, says much of the popularity of the Book Sale events is inspired by many of the shoppers knowing there will be a fresh batch of tens of thousands items available for them and a special opportunity to socialize with friends.
“More than a chance to find a bargain and fill home collections of books, movies and all that we offer, the Book Sale is among Cobb County’s top gatherings for sharing our strong sense of community spirit,” McKeown said.
All profits from the sale go directly to buying more items for the library. Community library volunteers provide support for staging the event as well as support from Cobb County P.A.R.K.S. and the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department.
For the first four hours of the sale, until Friday at 1 p.m., the library will only be able to sell a maximum of two boxes of items at a time at the payment desk and electronic devices will not be permitted during that timeframe. The acceptable forms of payment are cash and checks.
