School will be out the week of November 19th through November 23rd for Cobb County and Marietta City schools as well as for many private and homeschool students for Thanksgiving Break 2018.

Cobb County Public Libraries will close at 5 pm on Wednesday, November 21 and will be closed Thursday, November 22 and Friday, November 23. Cobb libraries will open 10 am on Saturday, November 24 for the regular weekend schedule.

We will have plenty of fun activities all packed throughout Thanksgiving Break, including on the weekends.

Little Red Riding Hood featuring the Wheeler High School Drama Club at Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center on Saturday, November 17 from 2:30 pm – 3:30 pm. Wheeler High School will be putting on the production for families with children of all ages.

Movie Monday at Windy Hill Library on Monday, November 19 from 11 am – 1 pm. We will be screening Free Birds (PG). In the film, two turkeys from the opposite side of the tracks must put aside their differences and team up to travel back in time to change history to get turkeys off of the holiday menu!

LEGOMania at Kennesaw Library on Monday, November 19 from 1 pm – 2 pm. Engineers and dreamers alike are welcome to come craft castles, spaceships, and more out of LEGOS. Suitable for kids 5 and up.

PJ Storytime and Stuffed Animal Sleepover at Switzer Library on Monday, November 19 from 7 pm – 7:45 pm. Come in your favorite jammies and bring a stuffed animal. Read a story and then your little furry friend can stay the night with us and when you come pick them up the next day you can find out all about their adventures in the library. Suitable for kids of all ages.

Welcome to The Wizarding World! at Vinings Library on Tuesday, November 20 from 6 pm – 8 pm. Meet fantastic beasts, make your own wand, and travel around the wizarding world with us. Suitable for all ages.

Tween ONLY! Fearless Art at West Cobb Regional Library on Tuesday, November 20 from 6:45 pm – 8 pm. We use a variety of processes to make art of all kinds. It can get messy, so dress accordingly! Messy Storytime at Vinings Library on Wednesday, November 21 from 11:30 am – noon. We have sensory play, read stories, sing songs, and much more during our play time. Program is suitable for all kids, but is aimed for preschool age children.

1st and 3rd School Age STEAM at West Cobb Regional Library on Wednesday, November 21 from 3:45 pm – 4:45 pm. Students from grades 2 – 5 will get to participate in a hands-on activity in Aerodynamics Technology. Our STEAM program explores a different letter (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) at each of our meetings. Registration is required. Space is limited. Family Fun Time at East Cobb Library on Wednesday, November 21 from 3:30 pm – 4:15 pm. Our family fun time is for children of all ages and can include books, activities, a short film, parachute play, music, and a craft. Our theme for this Family Fun Time is “Gather at the Table”.

Old School Saturday Afternoon Cartoons at Sibley Library on November 24 from 1 pm – 4 pm. We watch all of our favorite old school cartoons from the Hanna-Barbera era such as Magilla Gorilla, The Jetsons, and The Flintstones. Other classics include The CareBears, My Little Pony, Animaniacs, and Looney Tunes.

South Cobb Regional Library to be Closed November 7-14 for Renovation Project: The South Cobb library will re-open with limited services on Thursday, November 15 at 10 a.m. The services will include limited availability of public computers and access to library books and other items through December.
