Historian Dr. Cheryl White will give a lecture on “Confederate General Leonidas Polk: Louisiana’s Fighting Bishop,” Thursday, June 5, 7 p.m., at the KSU Center, 3333 Busbee Drive, Kennesaw.

PolkThe program is based on Dr. White’s book of the same title. Polk was a bishop of the Episcopal Church and Confederate general with major roles in several battles. He was killed June 14, 1864 by cannon fire as he scouted Union forces while on Pine Mountain, located west of Kennesaw Mountain off Stilesboro Road. For a brief biographical sketch on Gen.
