The 11th Annual Juneteenth weekend celebration is June 13-15 in Glover Park on the Marietta Square. Hosted by the Cobb County Branch of the NAACP, the celebration features entertainment, food, and more. All events are free and open to the public.
The events lineup includes the Evening Under the Stars concert of jazz, blues, spoken word and more on Friday, 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.; the Juneteenth Cultural Festival on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and the Gospelfest program of songs and dance on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Cobb County Public Library System will have a booth at the Juneteenth Cultural Festival on Saturday. We encourage everyone to visit us! More than 100 vendors will be at the festival.
Juneteenth, traditionally celebrated on June 19, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. The celebration dates back to 1865 and the arrival on June 19 of Union soldiers in Galveston, Texas with word that the war was over and the enslaved were free.
