Sunday, April 30th, 2017 is Children’s Day/Book Day, also known as El día de los niños/El día de los libros (“Día”). Día is a nationally established celebration that encourages literacy for children of all different backgrounds and nationalities.

Día celebrates children reading daily to help them become comfortable and confident in their literary skills. It encourages children to make reading an important part of their lives.

Reading helps with cognitive and analytical abilities, so by offering a wide variety of books focusing on a child’s language and culture it offers a chance to nurture their growth and knowledge.

Día is also a great way to bring families together and discover resources available in the community. Local libraries, schools, and community centers join together on Día to offer the best opportunities for all different heritages to learn through the power of reading.
