North Georgia Kids Read at Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center on Saturday, January 20 from 10 am to noon will feature New York Times best-selling children’s author Carmen Agra Deedy and multiple Grammy Award nominee  John McCutcheon – both nationally recognized as public library and literacy champions.

Carmen Agra Deedy is an award winning author who has been writing children’s books for more than twenty years. Her newest book, The Rooster Who Would Not Be Quiet is a tale about the power struggle between a mayor who has outlawed singing and a rooster who simply can’t live life without crowing his song. The more the mayor tries to silence the rooster, the more the rooster sings, inspiring the rest of the town with his song.

Children will get the chance to hear all about the The Rooster Who Would Not Be Quiet, as well as have the opportunity to decorate feathers to put on our very own rooster and enter a raffle for a chance to win a signed copy of the book.

Live music will be provided by McCutcheon, an American folk music singer-songwriter who has produced over 30 albums and is the author of children’s books as well. He will be playing some of his favorite children’s songs.

Books and audio will be available for purchase and signings.
