People of all ages are invited to join us for our annual End of Summer Reading Celebration on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at the Central Library. The celebration will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and will include activities for all ages. The event is free and open to the public.
The End of Summer Reading Celebration marks the end of the Summer Reading Program, which is the library's initiative to engage all Cobb County residents in reading and literacy-related activities during the summer months. Last year, over 800 people attended the celebration.
Jill Tempest, event coordinator and associate director at the library, anticipates a greater number of attendees this year. "This year, we're including new elements in the annual celebration: the 'Hero in Me' art gallery, a presentation by the Triple D Production Company, and the Jean Stromberg Memorial Evening of Stories. These are great opportunities for the community to come and see what the library has to offer for people of all ages."
In addition, the celebration will also feature games, crafts, music, and an appearance by the READing Paws dogs. The library system will also be announcing the winners of their iPad 2 and Sony eReader giveaways at the celebration. Sponsors for the Summer Reading Program giveaways are Cobb EMC and OverDrive; funding for the End of Summer Reading Celebration was provided by the Cobb Library Foundation.
The Central Library is located at 266 Roswell Street in Marietta. For more information, please call (770) 528-2330 or visit www.cobbcat.org.
