Local author Sara Hines Martin will read her girl empowering fairy tale Shakin’ Up the Kingdom as part of the Cobb County Libraries Children’s program at the Allatoona Book Festival on Saturday, Oct 8.

Join fellow bookhounds, writers, and artists at the Allatoona Book Festival in Acworth.

The festival will be held at Roberts Community Center in Acworth, kicking off with a reception on Friday, Oct. 7, and a day full of panel discussions, writing workshops, and more on Saturday, Oct. 8. Writers and readers alike will find much to celebrate at this free event featuring acclaimed writers including Janisse Ray, Jim Auchmutey, Valerie Boyd, and Teresa Weaver.

Throughout the day on Saturday Oct 8th, Cobb County libraries will offer activities including games, arts and crafts, face-painting, and tables to sign up for Cobb library cards.

Cobb Libraries’ scheduled events include:

10 am Babies/Toddlers and their parents are invited to enjoy picture books, learn nursery rhymes and sing songs that highlight the importance of early literacy.

10:30 am RuthAnn ‘Pinky’ Bigley will read a Dr. Seuss book and sing songs. Performance is followed by Dr. Seuss Arts & Crafts.

11 am Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park Ranger will read a book about the beauty and colors that can be found in nature.

11:30 am Pre-school/ Kindergarten children and parents are invited to read picture books, learn nursery rhymes and sing songs that highlight early literacy.

12 pm Local author Sara Hines Martin reads her fairy tale about a princess’s journey to become queen.
