Expansion and Renovation Project Currently Underway!
UPDATES:

Please pardon the inconvenience as we expand and renovate.  Some services may be curtailed or suspended during phases of construction.  Basic services such as pick-up of reserves and material returns will be available at all times.

Relocated Services
-April 2008–January 2009

§         Book Drops have been relocated to THE ART PLACE behind the library. (4/24/08)

§         Sunday Hours will temporarily move to Merchants Walk April 6 through completion of the project in January  (4/1/08)

§         Children's Department Relocated to Multipurpose Room.   The Children’s Department has temporarily re-located their collection to the Multipurpose room. (4/18/08)

Suspended Services
-April 2008–January 2009

§         Reserves on the Mt. View collection will be suspended until Monday April 14th. (4/7/08)

§         Parking Lot Closed - April 10th.  The parking lot will be unavailable beginning April 10.  Parking will only be available on adjacent County lots.  Please call the library for access information.  (4/7/08)

§         Multipurpose room will not be available due to re-use of the space. The Gritters, Merchant’s Walk, and 9 other libraries in the Cobb County Public Library System have multipurpose rooms for public use.  (4/1/08)

§         Children’s Programming will not be held at Mountain View  for the remainder of the year due to lack of space.  Extra programs are schedule at Gritters and the Merchants Walk Branches to help accommodate Mt. View Regional Library users. (link to COBB KIDS children’s page)  (4/1/08)

Project Schedule

            March 24-April 4 – The Children’s Department, Circulation Department, and Administrative offices relocated to make way for demolition.

            April 3 –11 Children’s Department closes to re-locate collection to the Multipurpose room

            May – July

§      Book drops are re-located to parking lot behind the library.

§      Begin demolition, construction and re-paving of parking lot.  Parking will only be available on adjacent County lots.  Please call the library for access information.

Project Benefits

The 4,000 square foot expansion project will add:

•      Additional space in the Children’s wing for seating, book stacks to house more materials
       and a larger program room to accommodate more children

•      3 new study rooms

•      Teen space for materials and study

•      Space for additional computer workstations

 The renovation project will:

•          Upgrade HVAC and fire alarm systems

•          Replace the roof

•          Upgrade all restrooms

•          Paint and carpet the entire interior

•          Refurbish the interior and exterior as needed

 The parking lot project will provide for:

•          62 new parking spaces

•          Improved lighting

•         A deceleration lane on Sandy Plains Road
