Animal farm

George Orwell

It shows the horrors of the Soviet Union and a corrupt government.  Oddly it uses animals to tell the story.

Anne Frank : The Diary of a Young Girl

Anne Frank

This was a very touching book about a Jewish family hiding from the German Nazis. It showed what precautions had to be taken. It also showed her funny personality. It's quite sad that they were betrayed.

Bud, Not Buddy

Christopher Paul Curtis

This book is exciting & funny!  There is a very funny part at the Sweet Pea Restaurant that really made me laugh.  I liked all the characters, too.

Crystal

Walter Dean Myers

It shows that you can sometimes lose yourself while going for a dream.  It is a really inspiring story.

Daddy's little girl

Mary Higgins Clark

Suspenseful, I hung on to its every word. Jumps into the story very quick.

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid

Jeff Kinney

It portrays middle school life perfectly in the way a normal kid would. The author has captured a boy with the same story as all middle school kids, except has made it into a book which also contains humorous drawings.

Doyle and Fossey,  the case of the gasping garbage.

Michele Torrey

Its a great book it explains it very nicely and it isn't one of those books that takes you into detail forever.  It has a very neat twist between the science and the investigation. I think this book deserves two thumbs up!

Eclipse

Stephinie Meyer

The book took a really superb but surprising turn. I recommend this book to any one who likes vampires and loves suspense.

Fever 1793

Lori Anderson

it gives you information about American history. It is also about a girl that is a refugee in her state.

Fly on the Wall: How One Girl Saw Everything

E. Lockhart

I liked this book mostly because of the ending. The ending didn't leave me hanging wondering what would have happened next because there wasn't a sequel to it. It also had a quite interesting plot. This book also was a hilarious book and really fun to read.

Fortune's Rock

Anita Shreve

The author has created a very realistic and enjoyable character named Olympia. She is a girl that is embarking on a dangerous romance. The author takes you through all her emotions and thoughts with such great detail. All the happiness, the cautiousness, the young love, the turmoil that follows.

Frannie In Pieces

Delia Ephron

It is an awesome book. It Tells how she feels and her dads life before her.

Gossip Girl

Cecily von Ziegesar

It's is an extremely engrossing book about teenagers of the Upper East Side, Manhattan, NY. The drama, the privileges, and most importantly the gossip.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

J.K Rowling

Harry's 3rd year at Hogwarts was the most fascinating. We learn a lot more about the reason that Harry's parents were murdered. We meet Harry's dad's two best friends: Remus Lupin and Sirius Black.

Horrible Harry's Secret

Suzy Kline

It's funny and it's about second grade love!

I got a D in salami

Henry Winkler & Lin Oliver

This book had a lot of humorous jokes and advice/morals. Though in the end of the book, there were many paragraphs that would have made wonderful endings to the story, by the author chose one that in my opinion was not the best ending.

In Cold Blood

Truman Capote

I read this book as a project and although it consumed much of my reading time it was an enjoyable book, one I couldn’t put down even if it was not an assignment. Through the project I discovered new vocabulary and characters I will never forget. The book was non-fiction but full of suspense and energy. The real mystery was not the murderers, which most books use as their main suspense, but something deeper which I have not yet discovered. In class I’m sure we will further analyze the contents of this book and my questions will be answered. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this paperback. It was an amazing read and I cannot wait to further dissect the story.

Keturah and Lord Death

Martine Leavitt

Keturah, the main character, gets lost in a forest and is close to death.  Death comes for her in the form of a young lord and they fall in love.

Lunch Walks Among Us

Jim Benton

It was about a little girl mad scientist. One day when Franny K. Steingoes to school she finds that she doesn't fit in. Then when she transforms herself an accident happens and a monster is made. Then she turns back to her regular self and makes a monster out of lunch meat. Then when the monster is defeated everybody makes Franny a part of their group.

Mallory vs. Max

Laurie Friedman

I think that the book is a really good book and everybody should read it.

New Moon

Stephinie Meyer

This book blew me away. It kept my attention the whole way.

No place like home

Mary Higgins Clark

Awesome

Once a Princess

Johanna Lindsey

I could not put this book down because it was so intriguing! There was never a portion in this book when I became bored or tired. Last night I read until 3 am and I have absolutely no regrets! Once a Princess contains action and passion and the story line is just so interesting you have no choice but to keep reading! I have read only three books from Lindsey but every single one has continued to catch my interest. It just so happens that this book had a historical theme, which is truly one way to catch and keep my interest. This was definitely a great read.

Physik

Angie Sage

Phisik has great descriptive language. The book also has a great plot. There are no real "bad guys" to this book.

Please Write in This Book

Mary Amato

Because it was very funny!

Please Write in this Book

Mary Amato

It's about a classroom full of kids who write in a journal the teacher hid in the writing corner. Little does the teacher know the whole classroom is a battle

Quad

C. G. Watson

The book tells how high schools can be. People can be mean and drive people to do thing they would never thing of doing.

Queen Of Babble

Meg Cabot

This book is great. I was laughing out loud the whole time. It was funny and smart.

Romiette and Julio

Sharon M. Draper

This book was ASTOUNDING!!! I give it 10 thumbs up! I loved the story line, how it was so close to Shakespeare but not. Julio, modern day Romeo, was the perfect man that any girl my age would go for. Romiette, modern day Juliet, had so many qualities similar to mine and her mother reminds me of my own. The drama was intense because it was so believable. I could really see the events in this book happening in real life and I was immediately taken into this world and became apart of it. Draper captured all of my senses and my heart with this story and there were times when I became so emotional I started to cry. It is a book I would read over and over again until the words become engrained in my mind. I am definitely going to buy this book and spread the word! If there ever was a role I would want to play in a movie Romiette’s part would be that role. I want everyone to know this story and love it as much as I have come to. Five bugs do not even account for my new favorite book!

Samantha Saves the Wedding

Valerie Tripp and Sarah Masters Buckey

Samantha sacrifices her mother veil to give to her Aunt Cornelia when she gets married

Samantha's Special Talent

Valerie Tripp and Sarah Masters Buckey

Samantha thinks she doesn't have a talent but she soon figures out what it is.

Samantha's Winter Party

Valerie Tripp and Sarah Masters Buckey

Because it's a about a rich girl and a poor servant girl surprising each other.

Sisters

Danielle Steel

I found this book on my way out of the library but it was definitely worth going back for even with 7 other books in my hand. It had a set plot and surprises happened that I easily suspected but for some reason it did not sway my good thoughts about the book. In Sisters the concept that everything worked out perfectly in the midst of hardship was conceivable and in my case believable. In fact if the book had had anything other than a happy ending I would have been flabbergasted and extremely upset. I would only change the fact that there is no sequel depicting the lives of their children.

Teen Idol

Meg Cabot

This book is awesome. It has a cool plot to it and slides in the romance part.

The absolutely true story part- time Indian

Sherman Alexane

I feel strongly good about this book . it is courageous and fun to read.

The Bad Beginning

Lemony Snicket

When the Baudelaire orphan's parents die in a fire they have to live with count Olaf. But Count Olaf wanted the Fortune that he Baudelaire's have. But Violet is ineligible to get any money. So Count Olaf makes a play so he can get the fortune. But will his Plan be spoiled?

The Boleyn Inheritance

Philippa Gregory

The story is about King Henry VIII's three wives after Anne and Jane and their Boleyn inheritances. I find that era very fascinating because of all the court politics and drama that happens.

THE CUL-DE-SAC KIDS The Double Dabble Surprise

Beverly Lewis

I think that the book is the best book the I have ever read by her. The book is about two girls how think that they are going to get two new sisters but they get two new brothers in stead.

The Glory Field

Walter Dean Myers

It goes through the struggles of an African-American Family in a 250 year period. It touches on slavery, racism, and shows how arrogant people used to be

The Merchant of Death

D.J Machale

This book was so awesome! I could read it a million times over and still be surprised. I don't think I have any finger nails left! This book is a must.

The Royal Diaries: Eleanor: Crown Jewel of Aquitaine

Kristana Gregory

It's about Eleanor's Diary from a Duchess of Aquitaine to Queen of France.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Ann Brashare

I really enjoyed the book. I loved the idea of the pants traveling around. The book takes you on a great journey from befriending a cancer patient who at times annoyed film maker Tibby because of her observations to Carmen dealing with her dad remarrying this completly-white-chuch-going-saying-prayers-at-the table family and acting completely different because of it (or at least a lot more than she remembered). Lena went on an adventure to Greece and met a wonderful boy named Kosto, who her family was against. Bridget battled over her desire for once of the coaches at her soccer camp in Mexico. The quotes added at the beginning of each chapter were inspiring if not at times funny. The had a little to with what was going on in that chapter. Overall, it was a great book.

The Theft  and the Miracle

Rebecca Wade

It has suspense and keeps you hanging on its every word.

Wayside School is Falling Down

Louis Sachar

Wayside school is the most hilarious book I've ever read. It is just a bunch of short stories put together. There is no nineteenth story in Wayside school but in the book there are three nineteenth captors!

     Liked It!

Artemis Fowl

Eon Colfer

This book is so awesome! It is clever in the use of magical creatures, rearranging the way I thought of them forever. The characters are very clever and each has their own unique personality.

Burger Wuss

M.T. Anderson

OK first of all the book cover was astounding! It attracted me from the beginning, which I am sure the author anticipated. The contents were even more amazing. I loved the story line of a “wuss” trying to become something more and get rid of his label all in the name of love. Ha! This book had all the teen clichés in it. That love can be found early and you can have sex as long as both partners are in love. I love the fact that after Rick and Jenn did it they split. This book had all the right twists and turns. I would definitely read more books by Anderson.

Cirque Du Freak

Darren Shan

This book is about two kids, Steve & Darren, who go to an illegal freak show. When Steve sees Mr.Crepsly Von Huron, he wants to have a talk with him to become a vampire. Then Darren steals Mr.Crepsly's performing spider an accident happens when the spider bites Steve. Then when Darren tries to get the antidote Mr.Crepsly turns Darren into a half vampire. Then exciting things happens to Darren. Exciting and dangerous.

Dangerously Alice

Phyllis Reynolds Naylor

I really enjoyed reading this book. The author drew you in with the characters and the main character Alice had so many qualities that in more ways than one you found a way to connect with her! I loved that aspect of the book and I cannot wait to read more from the series. The only problem was that I was confused sometimes with the amount of characters and references to the past. This was first time reading a book from this series and it happened to be the newest one, so it was a little confusing. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of the story and a hard time putting it down.

Deadly Gamble

Linda Lael Miller

I really enjoyed the story line of this book. The characters, especially Mojo, had my attention from the start. There was not one moment where I recall being confused or uninterested. When Miller called this book a suspense paperback she meant business! I love the fact that Mojo speaks to the dead. It’s not at all creepy, more entertaining. This book did not have a lot of twists and turns but in my opinion it did not need it. The biggest suspense was the hook at the end of the story. Now I have to wait to read the next one. The only thing keeping me going is that I know it is worth the wait. I cannot wait to read more engaging books by Miller.

Doyle and Fossey and the case of the graveyard ghost

Michele Torrey

I like the book very much the way that it tells the story. I like the girl in the book and her name is Nell Fossey and the boys name is Drake Doyle.

Follow The River

Alexander James Thom

It was an interesting story about courage and survival, but it wasn't that interesting. Mary Ingles escapes and makes it home though so that's good.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone

J.K Rowling

Normally people would give this book a 5 and say "This book is the greatest, and has moments of action, romance, fun, and everything else needed but also balanced to produce a wonderful book." Well I don't completely disagree with them, only that I sometimes fail to appreciate the fact that sometimes Mrs. Rowling writes from a sudden third person view in the middle of a first person view. This book does have many interesting parts and morals, and that's what gives it four bugs.

Marvin Redpost a Magic Crystal?

Louis Sachar

Casey has this so called "magic crystal" that will make your wishes come true. Marvin wishes that Casey will shut up. At the end of the book Marvin wishes that Casey has her voice back then wishes that one day they will get married.

No More Dead Dogs

Gordon Korman

This book is awesome!  It has interesting characters with a good storyline that kept my interest throughout the book.  I highly recommend this book.

But when they bump into a patriot they find what they were looking for a letter. But when they get into the boat to the war with George Washington there is a possible chance of not getting home.

Rose's Journal

Marissa Moss

It's about a girl named Rose who lives during the Great Depression.

Superfudge

Judy Blume

The story is very original. This book could have been a bit longer and interesting but it wasn't. This book was almost perfect in portraying the life of a boy with 3 siblings and who had to move. It focuses on the family part of the issue. It brought up many reasons why the boy could have been mad. This was a very good book.

Tale of the Desperaux

Kate DiCamillio

The story overall was breathtaking. But the frequent changing of story and the sudden join in stories was confusing to me. The story had many strong changes in feeling. I savored almost every page of this book.

The Fifth of March

Ann Rinaldi

This book is about the Boston Massacre, a very important event in history. I enjoy reading books about the Revolutionary War and its time period. I enjoyed the book, but some parts did displease me, though I would still recommend it.

The Prophet of Yonwood

Jeanne DuPrau

I have read the first book of Ember, and since this was the prequel, I decided to read it. It was a strange and interesting book, and I enjoyed it.  I must say that there were some parts I didn't agree with. I still might recommend it to friends.

The Secret Of The Old Clock

Karoline Greene

This book is about Nancy Drew. She helps a girl and returns her back to her aunt. When she talks to her aunts Nancy finds out there is another will made by Josiah Crowley. Then she talks to other people Nancy finds out that their related to Josiah Crowley. When Nancy sneaks into the back of a van she finds the clock as one woman described it as. Then she finds the will and everyone gets the money the wanted.

The Vampire's Assistant

Darren Shan

This book is the sequel to Cirque du Freak. The Vampire's Assistant is about Darren learning more from Mr.Crepsly about being a vampire and a half vampire. Then Darren learns that he doesn't only need to drink animal blood but to drink human blood. He also makes good friends and works with the Cirque Du Freak.

Tyler: Whirlwind

Nancy Martin

Whirlwind was everything a romance should be and more. I loved the fact that there was mystery and suspense. The sparks between Liza and Cliff were eminent at the start but they grew in unimaginable ways. As much as I like to guess what the solution to a mystery problem is, I could not in during this book, which is a good thing! I’m only somber that I have to wait until I check out more books to get the sequel. I loved the fact that Liza and Cliff had such passion and that their relationship was not perfect but close to it. I also enjoyed the fact that the author mentioned parts of the sequel in the original. They were not relevant topics until I read the preview, which is exactly as I would like it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and cannot wait to start reading the sequel!
