A 1000 Books B4 Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, July 8th from 2 pm to 2:30 pm at Switzer Library, 266 Roswell Street in downtown Marietta.

Cobb County Public Library System’s 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program encourages families to read 1000 books with their children before they start kindergarten. Reading with children can help them prepare for the fundamentals in their education. Several studies have shown brain development is supported by early reading and stimulation, and that in turn, can help promote academic achievement.

The special graduation ceremony on July 8th for children will feature a presentation of certificates to celebrate the 1000 book milestone and an opportunity for kids to have their photos taken with Dewey, the library’s feline mascot. This event at Switzer Library is free and open to the public. Bring the whole family!

Future 1000 B4K ceremonies are planned throughout the year at Cobb County libraries.
